EDC Performs in DC's Dance Sampler

This past weekend Equinox Dance Company took a trip to our nation's capital to perform in Jane Franklin Dance's Dance Sampler at the Woolley Mammoth Theatre. Dance Sampler celebrated the Washington, D.C., dance community with a showcase of works by six choreographers/companies.

EDC performed Constant Routine choreographed by Sandra Atkinson. The 2-part dance explored quick, mechanically repeated routine movement paired with a more fluid movement that expressed a sense of slowing down to enjoy life a bit more. Other performances included:  the nationally known Claire Porter with a comedic movement monologue called Happen Chance; James Madison University faculty member Shane O'Hara's Skating on Thin Ice about Occupy Wall Street; Jane Franklin's newest media/dance project; Baltimore choreographer Alice Howes' investigation of gesture; and a work originally set in Knoxville by Wayles Haynes.

We were thrilled to be included in Dance Sampler and enjoyed the lovely  Spring day in Washington, DC! Be sure to join us at our 10-year anniversary Annual Spring Performance on April 20 & 21 to see us perform Constant Routine as well as many of our other favorite dances!

The Company grabs a quick lunch and enjoys the Spring weather!

Waiting for the Metro…
